The complicated processes in living cells and organisms are presented in terms of the laws of chemistry and physics. The student will gain an in-depth knowledge of nucleic acid structure, molecular genetics, and the biochemistry of transcription and protein synthesis. Examining the genetic message in the form of DNA through transcription, translation, and the biosynthesis of macromolecules frames this course. Three hours of lecture, three hours of laboratory per week. Offered Fall semester, annually.
