ADMA 350 - Additive Manufacturing (3 semester hours) Prerequisites: Permission of the instructor Description: Additive manufacturing is the formalized term for what used to be called rapid prototyping and 3D Printing. This emerging technology is said to create a paradigm shift in methods and pace of production. In this course, basic principles and development of additive manufacturing, generalized process chain, photopolymerization, powder bed fusion, extrusion-based processes, material jetting, sheet lamination and directed energy deposition processes, direct write technologies, low cost systems, process selection guidelines, post processing and software issues, direct digital manufacturing, design for additive manufacturing, rapid tooling, applications, and future directions of the method will be covered. Offered as needed.
